Dec. 5, 2007: Egyptian Communications & Information Technology Minister Tarek Kamel met with Thierry Morin at Valeo's Paris HQ to discuss the Group's investment in Egypt, where the VIAS (Valeo Inter-branch Automotive Software) Division is based.

The Minister, accompanied by a delegation of government officials and business leaders, was given a detailed presentation of Valeo's product portfolio and innovations, with a special focus on the software development and electronics activities of the Group's Center for Electronics Excellence.

Following the meeting, the Minister gave a press conference at Valeo HQ for a dozen Egyptian journalists who were accompanying him and two fellow ministers
-- Transport Minister Mohamed Mansour and Trade & Industry Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid -- on a three-day visit to France. During their visit they also met with French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde and Secretary of State for Business & Foreign Trade Hervé Novelli.

image On Dec. 6, 2007, the three Egyptian Ministers took part in a special event at the French Chamber of Commerce to meet with potential investor companies and present French business successes in Egypt. Valeo was one of three French companies (along with Alcatel-Lucent and Orange-France Telecom) selected as speakers for the round table session on communication and information technology.

VIAS currently employs 120 R&D and software engineers, and plans to grow to at least 150 in the near future. The Division will be moving into a brand new facility in Cairo's Smart Village by the end of the year.

Chinese cars invade Egypt

Commenting on El-Nably's post about chinese cars....

....More shocking videos on youtube

It makes perfect sense.

We, in Egypt, put safety and risks at the very bottom of our priority list...and we put looks, options and hambaca at the very top.

Now that's a market segment chinese car manufaturers are now addressing. We are the PERFECT customers. No wonder these cars aren't and won't be sold in modern countries with high standards.

After china sells their crap to us and make some profit, they will start focusing on those factors...but for now, let us buy some crappy chinese cars.

We law gatt 3ala el crash tests, ya seedy rabina yostorha ba2a men 3ando...el mohem el shakl wel options!!

About Me

AA. I am Mohamed Salem Korayem. I work as an Embedded Software Engineer in a major international automotive supplier company here in Cairo, Egypt.

Currently I work in the Tooling Dept. where I, and the rest of the team, strive to make our fellow embedded software geeks happier. I work mainly with the .NET 2.0 using C#.

I also have a big appetite for web-development. I like analyzing the revolution of the web (aka Web 2.0) and how it affects people's lives in return. I develop web-apps with ASP.NET 2.0/Python in my free time. For client-side stuff, I use jQuery for all that Javascript magic.

What I muse, I share on this blog. So enjoy reading my mind and in case you like what you read, kindly subscribe by either email or RSS.
