Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.5 is out!!

Scott Guthrie carried the good news from the source. If you're like me and can't just wait, head over and download the FREE Express Editions. The Professional version 90-day trial will be released soon.

Personally, I am looking forward to Visual Studio's Intellisense native support for Javascript and Ajax. And it has Mult-Targeting support so you can continue developing ASP.NET 2.0 web sites you already have until you upgrade it to .NET 3.5.

I haven't read anything about DLR in this release. Seems they skipped it in this release. And the same goes for MVC support. If you're anxious to write IronPython/IronRuby like me, you will have to download them separately.

Anyways, check out the new features that Scott blogged about and just keep doing what you do best: coding happily ever after;)

The folks at mashable have compiled a comprehensive  list of good .net resource websites. Sadl, they didnt include great websites like dotnetkicks and dotnetslackers.

Quote:

"Microsoft is going to be letting developers take a look at the source code for .NET, but for those of you still in the trenches, coding away, we’ve gathered 25+ tools to help you with your daily tasks."

Let's first start with this video in case you didnt see it before.

Jaws dropped!? Sat down in a lonely corner thinking how will this change the world!? is the Matrix really inevitable? why the hell didn't you think of this simple DSP idea and implemented it in MATlab and be famous and rich!!??

Happened to me too and everyone who watched that video. Rumors has it that the guy behind this one-of-a-kind-yet-simple idea was hired in Adobe. I wonder why!?

And what about forging!? If your kids in the future will be able to remove their unwanted friends from group photos that easy, how easy will it be to fraud papers!!?? Will it be illegal in Egypt...sure will. It happend to the GPS, and Content-Aware Image Resizing is no exception.

BountyFisshing claimed in their blog that they know how to find cheaters who photoshop their fish to win some serious money. I wonder how their technique will change to catch forgers?

So far so good. Now the geniuses behind this idea launched their own website showing the above video. AND A FULL ACADEMIC PAPER DESCRIBING HOW THE ALGORITHM WORKS!! Now you have no execuse to implement it in your next project, even if it's not part of the requirements...adding this feature will make customers happy all the way.

Wait, it doesnt stop there!! A whole breed of implementations are being spread right now:

15+ Free Visual Studio Add-Ins

Now here's a real gem for all you .NET developers out there. Carl J has compiled a comprehensive list of Visual Studio addins. So what? they're ALL FREE!

And to my surprise, I only knew about 4 or 5 of them, the rest were lurking some where in the wilderness of the internet, waiting for Carl to Google'em out for us :)

Excellent job Carl. [dotnetkicks]

imageMasrawy recently published an online article about new IT companies in Egypt that open up new job opportunities with a lot of economic potential for the Egyptian market.

It mentioned VIAS' (Valeo Egypt's branch) success in the past 2 years. However, it has a false statement underlined here under.More...

About Me

AA. I am Mohamed Salem Korayem. I work as an Embedded Software Engineer in a major international automotive supplier company here in Cairo, Egypt.

Currently I work in the Tooling Dept. where I, and the rest of the team, strive to make our fellow embedded software geeks happier. I work mainly with the .NET 2.0 using C#.

I also have a big appetite for web-development. I like analyzing the revolution of the web (aka Web 2.0) and how it affects people's lives in return. I develop web-apps with ASP.NET 2.0/Python in my free time. For client-side stuff, I use jQuery for all that Javascript magic.

What I muse, I share on this blog. So enjoy reading my mind and in case you like what you read, kindly subscribe by either email or RSS.
