imageMasrawy recently published an online article about new IT companies in Egypt that open up new job opportunities with a lot of economic potential for the Egyptian market.

It mentioned VIAS' (Valeo Egypt's branch) success in the past 2 years. However, it has a false statement underlined here under.

Quote:

And he added that the European company Valeo in Egypt (which is a R&D center that specializes in embedded systems for the Automotive industry) has exceeded all expectations and overcame it's primary targets that was set by it's management which lead to the issuing of closure to all Valeo R&D centers (specifically in Spain, France and Germany) and let it's branch in Egypt handle the required effort of software development.

It's true that we were succesful (alhamdolilah) in the past 2 years, but we didn't reach a point that made Valeo dispense other R&D centers and shut them down, as mentioned, yet.

I will share with you the true story behind VIAS; Since technology is into everything these days, Valeo had more and more effort to do in regards of Software. That effort exceeds it's current R&D center's capacities and abilities. Plus a lot of that effort and knowledge is repeated across several branches which costs both time and money.

To solve this issue, the optimum solution was to have a branch in a low-cost company. That was when VIAS was born. Several countries were candidates of choice (among them India and Dubai) but Egypt won first hand because of:

1. It's central timezone. 1 hour difference is not a problem.

2. Better Spoken English than that of India.

3. Less employees turnover. It's well known that in India, employees tend to switch jobs frequently.

4. ...and other reasons too.

VIAS serves all of Valeo's other branches software needs. From unit-testing, to validation and tooling. So we aren't doing ALL the software work right now, we are only serving and aiding other branches.

Valeo, however, does aim to have VIAS as it's "Software Center" in the future (around 2010) inshallah.
